Based in Melbourne, Baumann Australasia was established in 2023 to handle the distribution, marketing and support for Baumann’s world class range of 3 to 50 tonnes capacity sideloaders.

Baumann Australia is also responsible for continuing the long-standing relationships with customers and partners gained by the business over the past twenty years.

Baumann Australasia is led by industry veteran Craig Armstrong-Fray, whose background in materials handling in both New Zealand and Australia places him in an ideal position to strengthen Baumann’s presence in the heavy industrial and manufacturing sectors.

Baumann S.r.l. has manufactured Baumann sideloaders in Cavaion, Northern Italy for over 50 years.

Managing director, Klaus Pirpamer, believes the new Baumann Australasia business will provide the focus to expand on the growing interest in the company’s equipment which has seen a resurgence in recent years as long load handlers look to capitalise on sideloader benefits, many switching to the ground-breaking 120-volt electric series.

Said Klaus: “We have seen significant growth in the sideloader market, as companies continue to explore safer, more cost-effective, and more efficient methods of handling long loads. As the European market approaches maturity, there are huge opportunities for growth in the Asia-Pacific region, where the sideloader concept is perhaps less well-known. It makes sense for us to have a local presence to support an expanding network and assist us in bringing the many benefits of our range to the market.”

Baumann initially formed a trading relationship with Red Australia, which was subsequently acquired by Komatsu Australia Holdings in 2009, becoming Komatsu Forklift Australia Pty Ltd.
